ALDI CROWNED WHICH? CHEAPEST SUPERMARKET FOR TENTH CONSECUTIVE MONTH

• Consumer champion Which? has named Aldi the UK’s cheapest supermarket for August – a 100% record in 2026, extending back to November 2025
• Shoppers can save a total of £64.39 by switching from Waitrose to Aldi

New analysis from consumer champion Which? has once again confirmed Aldi as the UK’s cheapest supermarket for August 2026, based on a basket of 92 popular grocery items.

Even after loyalty discounts were applied, shoppers would still have paid up to £30.09 less at Aldi than at Tesco (priced £189.45) and £26.19 less than Sainsbury’s (priced £185.55). Morrisons was £34.75 steeper (priced at £194.11), while Waitrose was a whopping £64.39 more than Aldi for the same basket at £223.75.

The result continues Aldi’s undefeated run in 2026, having topped the Which? rankings every month so far this year – building on its recognition as Cheapest Supermarket of the Year for 2025[1].

The retailer was also recently named Which?’s ‘Best Value Brand of the Year’, recognised for consistently delivering strong quality at low prices[2].
