ALDI NAMED CHEAPEST SUPERMARKET FOR FOURTEENTH MONTH IN A ROW 

  • Latest research from consumer group Which? has found Aldi to be the UK’s cheapest supermarket for the fourteenth consecutive month 
  • A basket of shopping at Aldi is over £8 cheaper than Tesco 
  • Shoppers can save a whopping £16.02 compared to the most expensive supermarket, for the same basket of items 

For the fourteenth month in a row, Aldi has been officially named the cheapest supermarket in the UK. 

As the country heads into the summer holidays and families face the added expense of keeping their children entertained whilst trying to keep household costs down, Aldi shoppers can be confident they’re getting the highest quality products at the best possible prices – month in, month out.  

Consumer group, Which? conducted its monthly Cheapest Supermarket price comparison, looking at the cost of a basket of items, including groceries and household essentials.  

The latest research shows that in July Aldi was a huge £16.02 cheaper than the most expensive supermarket, Waitrose, for an equivalent basket of items.  

Which? also revealed Aldi to be £8.37 cheaper than Tesco and £10.78 cheaper than Morrisons per basket.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: The summer holidays can be difficult financially for many but we will continue supporting our customers by consistently offering them great quality products at the lowest possible prices.” 

The news comes as Aldi launches its latest range of educational toys, following new research revealing that 30% of children as young as 3-years-old have received paid-for coaching and tutoring to help with reading and writing1. Here to help parents give their little ones a head start for less, the range is available in stores from 3rd August. And with prices starting from just 99p, parents best be quick as with all Specialbuys once they’re gone, they’re gone!
