LOYALTY PRICES UNABLE TO BEAT ALDI PRICES FOR A WHOLE YEAR – PROVEN BY WHICH? INDEPENDENT RESEARCH

3 July, 2025

  • New research from Which? has revealed that Aldi is still the cheapest place to buy everyday supermarket essentials, even after factoring in loyalty prices
  • Shoppers can save £8501 each year by switching from Sainsbury’s to Aldieven with a Nectar Card

Research by consumer group Which? has found that Aldi is yet again the cheapest supermarket for 79 essential items this month.

The total price of a shop at the discount retailer came in at £47.12 less than Waitrose, as well as being cheaper than Ocado by £33.99, andless expensive than Sainsbury’s by £22.26.

That makes it an entire year that Aldi has come out on top against loyalty card prices, beating Sainsbury’s Nectar Card prices by £16.77 and Tesco Clubcard prices by £15.17. Loyalty card shoppers could have saved more than £8502 in the last year by switching to Aldi – that’s enough for a holiday to Santorini!3
