ALDI SEE SALES OF PIZZA RISE AS SHOPPERS MOVE FROM TAKEAWAYS TO FAKEAWAYS
Supermarket Aldi has seen a +30% rise in sales of its fresh and frozen pizzas over the past month as savvy shoppers enjoy fakeaways at home. The news comes as it was announced there was a 29% dip in delivery and takeaway sales year-on-year[1].
Aldi’s Carlos Takeaway range has been particularly popular as shoppers have compared it to Domino’s pizza[2] – but at a fraction of the price (as much as 82% less[3]).
With everyone’s favourite pizza-loving turtles about to return to our screens as Netflix launchesRise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on 5th August, the supermarket expects pizza sales to remain strong throughout the Summer and into the Autumn.
Fans of the crime-fighting turtle brother’s go-to dish, can get a takeaway-style pizza for less than £4 from Aldi. Here’s some inspiration based on the turtles favourites:
Michelangelo’s
Cheesy on the eyes. Aldi’s Carlos Stuffed Crust Cheese Feast (£3.69 670g) serves up the most gooey, stretchy, cheesy pizza experience thanks to its lashings of mild and mature cheddars along with Red Leicester and mozzarella atop a rich tomato base. If that wasn’t enough, the crust is stuffed to the brim with more of the good stuff!
Donatello’s
The Carlos Takeaway Fully Loaded Meat Feast (£3.69, 510g) is a meat lover’s dream as it’s smothered in succulent British pork and beef meatballs, spicy peperoni and tender pieces of ham. The carnivorous mixture tops a crunchy, stonebaked base with a tomato sauce and stringy mozarella cheese. Cowabunga!

Aldi’s Carlos Takeaway Fully Loaded Pizza BBQ Chicken (£3.69, 515g) is the perfect all-rounder. A stonebaked base loaded with mozzarella, sweet and sticky Bourbon BBQ sauce, smokey BBQ flavoured chicken with crispy bacon and punchy red and green pepper with a flourish of red onions. What more could a mutant turtle want?

The one, the pepper-only. Aldi’s Carlos Stuffed Crust Double Pepperoni Pizza (£3.69, 697g) serves up the timeless combo of creamy mozzarella with a mix of both regular and mini pepperoni slices. All this covers a crisp base with a crust that’s packed with even more melty cheese.
