ALDI WITNESSING OWN LABEL SALES SURGE
- According to the latest Kantar data, sales of own label are currently 54% of the grocery market[i]
- Aldi has just been named the Which? Cheapest Supermarket for October – for the fifth consecutive month
As the cost-of-living crisis begins to affect millions of people up and down the country, supermarket chain Aldi has seen a surge in the number of shoppers snapping up its exclusive own brand products. According to the latest Kantar data, own label products are more popular than ever – with over half of the money shoppers spend on food shopping going towards own label groceries for the first time ever.
This news follows the recent Grocer Own Label Awards[ii] where Aldi scooped more awards for its own label range than any other retailer. As well as this, Aldi has also just been named as Which? Cheapest Supermarket for October, making it the fifth consecutive month the supermarket has taken home this award.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, says: “The current financial strain facing the UK is one that will affect shoppers all over the country, which is why we strive to ensure our own brand range offers the highest quality products at the best possible value.
