CAMBRIDGE GIRLS GAIN EGG-CITING JOB TITLE

ALDI APPOINTS SISTER DOUBLE ACT AS ITS ‘CHIEF EASTER EGG TASTING OFFICERS’

  • Sisters Anya and Thea O’Shea (8 & 10), who are keen Cambridge FC supporters, beat hundreds of hopefuls to land coveted position
  • Dream job role will involve reviewing Aldi’s Easter eggs, with feedback informing the supermarket’s buying team for next year’s range
  • Judges were charmed by the pair’s charismatic entry, in which they called themselves the ‘perfect chocolate tasting team’

Sister duo Anya (10) and Thea (8) from Landbeach, Cambridge have been appointed Aldi’s Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officers, beating hundreds of hopeful applicants up and down the country and becoming the first ever double act to land the coveted role.

The egg-stra special role, which opened for applications via Aldi’s social media on the 6th March, saw hundreds of chocoholics across the nation share audition videos explaining why they were right for ‘the world’s sweetest job’.

To land the role Anya and Thea, who are proud Cambridge FC supporters and devoted owners of their cocker spaniel, submitted a video entry describing their love of chocolate.

The girls’ entry, in which they called themselves the ‘perfect chocolate tasting team’ called out their favourite goodies from Aldi’s Easter range, Anya’s being the Dairyfine Chocolate Peanut Butter Mini Eggs and Thea’s being the Rocky Road Easter Egg.

Judges found the entry to be ‘sweet’ and ‘full of character’, with the sisters ‘already fulfilling the role of tasting Aldi’s Easter range well.’

The sisters, along with two other lucky winners, including 11-year-old Travis Elvin from Sheffield and Siné Babenia, 34 from Essex, received a selection of free Aldi Easter eggs to taste.

The range, which starts from just 49p, includes the eye-catching Sundae Egg, a Giant Crocodile Egg, and shopper favourite Peanut Butter Surprise Egg. In exchange for these eggceptional goodies, the Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officers will feedback their all-important reviews of the range.

On landing the role, Anya, 10, said: “I thought my chances of winning would be 1 in 1,000 so I can’t believe I’ve been chosen. I love chocolate more than anything, I can’t wait to try all these eggs.”

Younger sister Thea, 8, said: “This is the best job ever! I feel so great that I’ve won because Easter eggs are my favourite thing ever.”

Dad, Mark O’Shea, said: “The girls screamed with delight when they realised they’d been chosen. I’m sure they’ll give very honest feedback of all the eggs, as they take their love of chocolate very seriously.”

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “Our Easter eggs are hugely popular but it’s important we continue to excite and delight shoppers with fun new products each year.

“That’s why input from our Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officers is key. Anya and Thea’s reviews will not only provide invaluable feedback to our buying teams, but also inspire new and innovative products that may well appear in next year’s line up.”

To try this year’s Easter egg selection, shoppers should head to Aldi stores or order via Click and Collect now.
