Aldi will introduce a two-bottle purchase limit on its Specially Selected Cairanne from Monday 11th December to Sunday 17th December, when it’s reduced from £8.99 to £3.49.
The supermarket is expecting unprecedented demand after the 61% price drop was called out as ‘Aldi’s Christmas present to the nation’ by Jane MacQuitty, wine critic at The Times.
Wine experts have also been taking to social media to share the deal; one describing it as “incredible” 1, with another advising shoppers to “set your clocks to go!!’2.
One shopper claimed: “My husband is already in the queue!”
The award winning3 Specially Selected Cairanne is 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Carignan. It’s described as rich and layered with a mocha and spice finish, offering aromas of forest fruits, plums, black cherry and damsons.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, says: “These reductions are part of our efforts to make great quality wines affordable to all this Christmas.
“We’ve introduced a bottle limit to ensure as many of our shoppers as possible can buy and enjoy the Specially Selected Cairanne at such an incredible price.”
But shoppers needn’t worry – the price drop is just one of many offers across Aldi’s wine range this festive season, with discounts of up to 65% off classic winter wines running every week until New Year’s Eve4.
Outside of the weekly offers, running from 11th December up until Christmas Eve, Aldi is also dropping the price of more than 70 bottles in its Specially Selected wine range by 25%.
Aldi’s wine promotions are available weekly in stores now.
Discounted prices may differ in Scotland and Wales.
