ALDI LAUNCHES FOUR NEW GREEK WINES FOLLOWING SURGE IN POPULARITY
3 May, 2022
Around 100 bottles of Aldi’s £6.99 Greek Assyrtiko sold every hour following its launch last summer, paving the way for a family of four new Greek wines to hit shelves this spring
It all started when Aldi’s 2020 Greek Assyrtiko launched last spring and the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen show described it as “one of the best value white wines on Britain’s shelves” and “a total steal” by wine expert Olly Smith. The result? Aldi’s Greek wine flew off shelves last Summer, with around 100 bottles sold every hour – that’s over 50,000 glasses every week!
With Britain’s insatiable demand for more esoteric wines from lesser-known regions continuing[1], Aldi has now expanded its Greek wine offering as part of its new 2022 Spring Summer wine range.
