“PAIR PANCAKES WITH PROSECCO” WINE EXPERT SAYS LEMON AND SUGAR TOPPING TASTES BEST WITH OFF-DRY BUBBLY

- Pink fizz lovers can find the perfect pairing in the Costellore Prosecco Rosé Millesimato – also reduced to £4.99 from £5.99 ahead of Pancake Day (13th February)
The countdown to Pancake Day (13th February) is on, and Mistress of Wine, Sam Caporn, says the ideal pairing for shopper favourite lemon and sugar topping is a fruity fizz.
“An off-dry sparkling wine is ideal for lemon and sugar pancakes. An Italian sparkler such as a Prosecco or an Asti, has sweetness which works well with the sugar, whilst also offering attractive peach and lemon flavours that complement the citrus- so it’s a win-win. Not to mention fun and delicious!”
Sam advises shoppers to opt for fizzy tipples that are “fresh and lively, with flavours of apricot and juicy Conference pears”; such as Aldi’s best-selling Costellore Prosecco Spumante DOC (75cl), which is now reduced to a flipping good price of just £4.99 (originally £5.75).
Alternatively, shoppers can choose an off-dry pink fizz with “a delightful blend of berry fruit flavours and a hint of white peach and citrus”, like the Costellore Prosecco Rosé Millesimato (75cl) – also reduced to £4.99 (originally £5.99).
Those looking for a slightly lower ABV option, needn’t look any further as Aldi’s Asti Spumante DOCG (75cl) also makes the perfect pairing – and for just £4.49 a bottle, what’s not to like?
Sam says: “Aromatic and fruity with flavours of grape, flowers, lychee, peach, and tropical fruits such as pineapple. This sparkler is very sweet and fun!”
Aldi’s Prosecco reductions are available in stores now until 15th February, while stocks last.
The Asti Spumante is available in stores and via Click&Collect now.
