Supermarket Aldi has dished up this autumn’s hottest drop which is guaranteed to keep you spud-tacularly snug as the air turns crisp.

The Jacket Potato Jacket has been unveiled by Aldi as the nation begins to hunker down for cosy nights and chilly mornings.

Research of 2,000 Brits commissioned by the supermarket reveals that after one of the hottest summers, 82% of Brits are looking forward to autumn.

Over a third (40%) of the nation say that October marks the start of jacket potato season, with 61% declaring autumn their favourite season, even though 85% find the worst thing about the season is being cold.

With the clocks going back in just a fortnight’s time and the chillier nights starting to draw in, the oversized potato puffer provides perfect baked-in warmth, with a fluffy fleece lining and a potato skin inspired outer.

Lucky shoppers can get their hands on Aldi’s latest creation via a giveaway on the supermarket’s TikTok and Instagram channels.

The majority of the nation (95%) are ready to lean into the cosy vibes that the season brings. Going for a walk in nature (65%), cooking autumn-inspired dishes like jacket potatoes, soups or casseroles (33%), and having a bonfire (24%) ranked among the nations’ favourite autumnal activities.

With four fifths (81%) enjoying the fact they can wrap up both indoors and out, the jacket is perfect for any occasion that requires warmth, cosiness, or both!

A further 80% of Brits will purposefully be setting aside at least one ‘sofa day’ this month, as over half (59%) say they have embraced the Scandinavian concept of hygge, which means getting cosy.

Additional favourite ‘cosy’ activities include watching TV under a blanket (56%), enjoying warming food like jacket potatoes (40%) and sitting by the fire in a pub (34%).

Aldi has teamed up with Agro Studio, the fashion house celebrated for crafting looks for the likes of Beyonce and Lady Gaga, to create the limited-edition jacket.

Lucky shoppers can get their hands on a Jacket Potato Jacket via Aldi’s TikTok, Instagram and Facebook channels by following, liking and tagging a friend in the comments.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK said: “We know our customers love jacket potatoes, so launching this jacket made sense, especially now the temperatures are dropping. Our latest creation will keep jacket potato fans cosy this season, taking inspiration from one of the nation’s favourite comfort foods. Enjoying a jacket potato in Aldi’s new Jacket Potato Jacket is sure to be a mash made in heaven!”

With autumn here, Aldi expects to sell over 2 million individual Ready Baked Jacket Potatoes (£2.35) throughout October and November.
