TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ALDI’S BEST COMMUNITY ALLOTMENT COMPETITION (THE “Competition”)

This page tells you the terms on which you may enter the Competition (the “Terms”).
ALDI UK has launched a competition to find the best community allotment in the UK.
Please read these Terms and the associated Privacy Notice carefully before you enter the Competition as they will govern your entry to the Competition. By entering the Competition, you confirm your acceptance of these Terms.

How to Enter the COMPETITION
3. To enter the Competition, you must:
a) Send an e-mail to AldiAllotmentCompetition@aldi.co.uk including:
- your full name;your email address;your address;a photograph of your community allotment; and
- a short explanation about what makes your community allotment special.

THE PRIZE
4. 1 (one) winner will be chosen by a panel of ALDI judges from all valid entries.
5. The winner will receive a hamper of a selection of seasonal plants including Pansies and Violas (“Prize”).
6. The Prize will be delivered to the address included in the entry.
7. The Promoter reserves the right in its absolute discretion to substitute another prize of similar or greater value.
8. The Promoter must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation the Promoter will send the surname and county of the winner to anyone who requests this information by email to aldicompetitions@citypress.co.uk or writes to Aldi Stores Limited, Holly Lane, Atherstone, Warwickshire, CV9 2SQ (enclosing a self-addressed envelope) within one month after the closing date of the competition.
9. If you object to any or all of your surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, please contact the Promoter at aldicompetitions@citypress.co.uk. In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
10. The Promoter will send the full names of the judges to anyone who writes to Aldi Stores Limited, Holly Lane, Atherstone, Warwickshire, CV9 2SQ (enclosing a self-addressed envelope) within one month after the closing date of the competition.
RESTRICTIONS ON ENTRY
11. Entries are open to residents of Great Britain (not Northern Ireland). This is a child-friendly competition, however entries on behalf of minors must be submitted by someone aged 18 or over.
12. This Competition is not open to:
a) ALDI’s employees and their immediate families (such as children, spouses, siblings, aunts, uncles and grandparents); or
b) employees, officers or agents of any companies associated with the Competition.
13. No more than one entry may be made per person. Anyone found to be creating or using multiple email accounts to enter the Competition will be ineligible to enter the Competition.
14. The Competition commences at 00:01 in London on Tuesday 2nd September 2025 and closes at 23:59 in London on Tuesday 16th September 2025 with the winners contacted by Tuesday 23rd September 2025.
15. Entries must not contain material that:
(a) is inappropriate, offensive, indecent, obscene, hateful, defamatory, derogatory or anything similar;
(b) promotes irresponsible or excessive drinking; or
(c) may promote bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or that may promote discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity or age.
16. Entrants acknowledge that other entrants may have submitted ideas and concepts that may be similar to their entry, and that they will not be entitled to any compensation or right to negotiate with the Promoter over such matters.
17. Entrants warrant that their entries are their own original creation and have not been copied and/or reposted from any other person(s).
18. In the event of any dispute regarding the winner, the decision of the Promoter is final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
19. Use of a false name or email address, or the provision of any other untruthful, inaccurate or misleading information, will result in disqualification from the Competition.
20. You may only enter the Competition using an email account that you control.
21. Any attempt to tamper or interfere with the entry process will result in disqualification from the Competition.
22. Entries made using results generated by a script, macro or the use of automated devices will be void.
23. ALDI may remove entries from the Competition at any time if it believes that such entry has been made in breach of these Terms or is otherwise not in the spirit of the Competition.
CONTACTING THE WINNERS
14. 1 (one) winner will be chosen by a panel of independent judges from all valid entries. ALDI will contact the winner by the email address used to enter the Competition.
25. ALDI reserves the right to retract the Prize offer if the winner contacted does not respond within one week of ALDI’s first attempt to do so. In that case, the Promoter reserves the right to offer the Prize to the next eligible entrant selected from the valid entries received before the closing date.[MM1]
26. The Prize is non-refundable, not transferable to another individual and no cash or other alternatives will be offered.
Our LIABILITY TO YOU
27. Except where prohibited, entrants agree that:
(a) any and all claims brought by them in relation to this competition, and any consequential judgments or awards, shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this competition and
(b) under no circumstances will entrants be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrants hereby waive all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages otherwise increased. Subject to any liability arising as a result of its fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, the Promoter’s liability for claims related to this promotion is limited to a maximum of three thousand pounds.
18. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not liable for any injury or damage to persons or property, which may be caused, directly or indirectly, from any entrant’s participation in the competition or from any prize.
29. The Promoter is not responsible for any lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible or misdirected entries, which will not be entered into the competition. No responsibility can be accepted for any technical failures of any kind or any unauthorised intervention in any part of the entry process, nor for any technical or human error, which may occur in the administration of this competition or the processing of entries.
General
30. Discretion: Where these Terms refer to the exercise of any discretion by ALDI, such discretion shall be absolute and no correspondence shall be entered into regarding any associated decisions. ALDI reserves the right to refuse or disqualify any entry or remove or replace a winner if ALDI believes there to have been a breach of these Terms.
31. Privacy: Insofar as the Promoter becomes a controller of any personal data relating to entrants, any such personal data will be held and/or processed in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and for the purposes of the current competition only. The details of the Promoter’s privacy notice including details on how to exercise any rights under the data protection legislation can be found at www.aldi.co.uk/privacy.
32. Subject to paragraph 10 above, no personal data of entrants held and/or processed by the Promoter will be disclosed to a third party without the data subject’s prior consent, other than is absolutely necessary so as to fulfil the terms of the competition, in which case such processing will be subject to the necessary lawful basis under data protection legislation.
33. You should not submit any personal data that is not personal to and/or relates specifically to you. You hereby warrant that the information which you submit and/or distribute will not infringe the intellectual property or any other rights of any third party, and will not contain anything which is defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing or threatening.
34. By entering this competition, you hereby warrant that all information submitted by you is true, current and complete.
35. The winner may be required to take part in publicity accompanying or resulting from this Competition. By entering this Competition you hereby assign to the Promoter, and waive your moral rights in, the copyright and all other intellectual property rights whatsoever in your entry and confirm that you have no rights in any promotional or advertising material or similar which arises out of, or is in connection, with this competition.
36. For the avoidance of doubt, by entering this competition, entrants agree for content shared as part of their entry to be used on Aldi social media channels.
37. Events beyond ALDI’s control: Events may occur that render the Competition itself or the selection of winners impractical due to reasons beyond ALDI’s control. ALDI may, at our discretion, make such variations or amendments to the Competition as we feel are necessary as a result of such events.
38. Cancellation of the Competition: While ALDI will use every effort to ensure the Competition is open until the closing date, ALDI reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition in whole or in part at any time. If you have already entered the Competition by that point, we will notify you of the change via the e-mail address which you supply to us when you enter the Competition. We will endeavour to give seven days’ notice of such a cancellation, termination, modification or suspension. If this is not possible, we shall give you as much notice as we reasonably can.
39. Entire Agreement: These Terms (together with the documents referred to in them) constitute the entire agreement between you and ALDI in relation to your entry to the Competition and supersede and extinguish all previous agreements in respect of the Competition.
40. Other promotions: Any other promotions run by ALDI will be governed by their own separate terms and conditions.
41. Applicable Law: These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim.
