Research by consumer group Which? has found that Aldi was yet again the Cheapest Supermarket for a basket of 100 essential items this month. This news comes as Aldi was just crowned the Which? Cheapest Supermarket of the Year for 2024[1].
The total price of a weekly shop at the discount retailer came in at £185.83 – less than all other supermarkets, including Tesco (£213.14),Sainsbury’s (£223.84), and Waitrose (£242.91).
With many Brits feeling the pinch after the festive period, more shoppers than ever are looking at everyday ways to save some cash and hit those financial goals for 2025. In fact, according to a recent poll by YouGov, almost a quarter (21%) of Brits have said they will save more and spend less in 2025.
As of today, savvy Aldi shoppers could save a whopping £57.08 per week by switching from Waitrose to Aldi – making sticking to those New Year’s resolutions much easier.
The new research from Which? marks 15 months that Aldi has been consistently crowned the cheapest supermarket by the consumer champion. Its prices can’t be beaten, even by shoppers using a Tesco Clubcard, Sainsbury’s Nectar card or the Lidl Plus app.
