Might this be the new prosecco? Making a grand arrival as part of the 2022 Spring Summer wine range, supermarket Aldi, the best supermarket wine retailer of 2021i, has saved pride of place on shelves for a rare summertime sparkling thought to be THE drink for celebrations this Summer, and soon to become officially “a thing”; Specially Selected Sparkling Ribolla Gialla (£6.99/75cl).
Described as “sipping on sunshine” by wine experts, it is the perfect rare gem to toast the start of Spring, and warmer, brighter days ahead. Wine expert and the face of Aldi’s Wine School, Sam Caporn, explains what it is about this Italian fizz that sets it apart from others:
“This delicious Italian sparkler has pretty aromas of pear, yellow plums and honeysuckle with a fruity, frothy and flavoursome palate that is ever so slightly off-dry. The younger sibling of prosecco that is finally getting its moment to shine.”
Italy’s Ribolla Gialla sparkling wine is crafted from an ancient variety of grape, found mostly in the beautiful north-eastern Fruili Venezia Giulia region. Despite its exclusivity, the classic tipple is a surprisingly easy-to-pair wine that everyone is guaranteed to love.
