Aldi,the UK’s favourite supermarket as voted by Which?, has just the ticket to transport shoppers to sunnier climes this Spring with its brand-new wine range in-store and online now. Brits can now open a bottle and decant themselves back to the rolling hills of Tuscany, relive a trip to the ancient towns of Lima Valley, Portugal, or perhaps enjoy an evening in a tapas bar in Spain, as Aldi has a plethora of quality wines, all at incredible prices.
No need to grab the passport, just pop on those sunnies and experience the holiday lifestyle from home with this selection of incredible new tipples. With a collection of sumptuous quality reds, sweet, zesty rosés and elegantly fruity white wines, there will be no pour decisions.

Start further afield – South America
While stuck in one spot, shoppers needn’t just dream of the other side of the world, they can taste it too. Aldi’s new range features an indulgent selection of South American wines, including an Argentinian Criolla (£5.99). A supermarket first, this delicate wine boasts lots of red fruit and spice, with a smooth finish, showing Argentina is more than just Malbecs!
Stay on the South American trail and head south to Uruguay, otherwise known as South America’s best kept secret when it comes to wine[1]. Aldi’s new Uruguayan Tannat (£6.99) is a rarity in the UK. Aldi shoppers will be first to get their hands on what is considered the national grape of the country.
This red wine is a delicious mix of plums, liquorice and spice, perfect for watching the sun go down from the comfort of the garden.

Canada
Wine not head across the pond and visit Canada, a country steadily putting itself on the map for wine? Aldi’s new Canadian Riesling (£9.99), produced in the Okanagan Valley, is an off-dry white wine which is packed with depth and richness. Best served with a spicy chicken dish, it works to balance the flavours with the sweetness of the wine. Available online only.
Italy
For those that prefer a taste of something more traditional, Aldi has an amazing array of Italian wines. Considered the perfect environment to grow wine and boasting some of the oldest and most world-renowned wineries, it’s no wonder Aldi has added 13 bottles from the destination to its new range! Among them are some unusual varieties, including a Specially Selected Toscana Rosé (£6.99), Italian Frappato (£6.49) and Italian Frascati, which is a bargain £4.29. Named after the town of Frascati, located 25km Southeast of Rome in Lazio, Aldi’s brand new Italian Frascati is a refreshingly light wine, with juicy notes of apples, pears and lemons, this is the ultimate Spring Summer tipple to sip while thinking of those rolling Tuscan hills.
Spain
Next take a trip west across Europe to the glorious country of Spain and enjoy the Specially Selected Rioja Blanco (£6.99). Created by the Rivero family, this delicious bottle combines attractive aromas of lemon with notes of pineapple, lemon meringue and lime, crisp acidity and a sprinkling of spice on the finish. For a sensational pairing, Mistress of Wine Sam Caporn recommends to match it with seafood, chicken or pork dishes.
Or for the rosé lovers out there, why not opt for the Specially Selected Rioja Rosé (£6.99) instead? Known as an older but classic style of rosé, it’s a delicious mix of aromatic flavours with a touch of vanilla.
Portugal:
Following the sell-out success of Mimo Moutinho Vinho Verde (£4.99),which is also back on shelves, Aldi is launching a Vinho Verde Rosé for just £6.49! Expected to be a hit with shoppers, it’s filled with ripe berries and juicy cherries, making it ideal for those wanting to try something new and craving a go to Spring tipple. Gorgeous as an aperitif or for a true taste of Portugal, pair with fresh seafood, grilled fish, white or meats. Delicious!
France:
For those diehard red lovers looking for a transitional wine between seasons, nothing beats a light red from France. Aldi’s Beaujolais (£4.49) is a steal and ideal for those looking for something delicate but rich in fruits. Grown in Burgundy, France, this wine is for those who don’t take themselves too seriously. Filled With flavours of cherries, strawberries and redcurrants, it’s best slurped lightly chilled and served with dishes such as duck.
