ALDI REVEALS WHICH TOWNS AND CITIES WILL BENEFIT FROM RECORD £1.6BN EXPANSION PLAN

Aldi has revealed some of the towns and cities that it is targeting with its £1.6bn expansion plan over the next two years. 

In its annual trading update earlier this week, the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket said it planned to open 80 stores across 2026 and 2027 to meet the UK’s growing demand for affordable groceries. As well as new stores, the record investment will go towards upgrading existing ones, as well as the development of Aldi’s distribution network.

The UK’s fourth largest supermarket reiterates its commitment to “never to be beaten on pay”

From Monday 1^st September, over 28,000 Aldi hourly paid store colleagues across the UK will receive a bigger than expected pay rise as the supermarket reinforces its pledge to never be beaten on pay.

In July, Aldi said it was increasing pay for Store Assistants from £12.75 an hour to £13.00 from 1^st September, to become the first supermarket to offer this minimum rate.

ALDI BECOMES FIRST SUPERMARKET TO PAY STORE ASSISTANTS AT LEAST £13 AN HOUR

Aldi is set to become the first supermarket to pay Store Assistants at least £13.00 an hour.

The new minimum rate, which increases to £14.33 within the M25, will take effect from 1^st September 2025 and further exceeds the Real Living Wage of £12.60 an hour that was set by the Living Wage Foundation in October last year.

The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket is encouraging shoppers to support the women’s teams and enjoy the games, so any unfortunate customers who miss a Lioness or Dragon scoring while paying for an Aldi shop can get up to £100 back in Aldi vouchers throughout the tournament.

Aldi has announced an updated list of priority locations across the UK where it is hoping to seek sites for new stores.

The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket recently invited the public to suggest areas most in need of an Aldi store.

Aldi has since analysed thousands of suggestions to help shape its store search for the years ahead.
