28 March, 2022

RARE ITALIAN SPARKLING SET TO BE THE NEW PROSECCO OF SUMMER 2022

Making its debut this summer on Aldi shelves for just £6.99, experts believe the Sparkling Ribolla Gialla is well-positioned to be summer 2022’s hottest fizz

Ribolla Gialla wine

Might this be the new prosecco? Making a grand arrival as part of the 2022 Spring Summer wine range, supermarket Aldi, the best supermarket wine retailer of 2021i, has saved pride of place on shelves for a rare summertime sparkling thought to be THE drink for celebrations this Summer, and soon to become officially “a thing”; Specially Selected Sparkling Ribolla Gialla (£6.99/75cl).

Described as “sipping on sunshine” by wine experts, it is the perfect rare gem to toast the start of Spring, and warmer, brighter days ahead. Wine expert and the face of Aldi’s Wine School, Sam Caporn, explains what it is about this Italian fizz that sets it apart from others:

“This delicious Italian sparkler has pretty aromas of pear, yellow plums and honeysuckle with a fruity, frothy and flavoursome palate that is ever so slightly off-dry. The younger sibling of prosecco that is finally getting its moment to shine.”

Italy’s Ribolla Gialla sparkling wine is crafted from an ancient variety of grape, found mostly in the beautiful north-eastern Fruili Venezia Giulia region. Despite its exclusivity, the classic tipple is a surprisingly easy-to-pair wine that everyone is guaranteed to love.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi, we have built a reputation as a destination for unexpected varietals and rare wine regions that produce outstanding quality and value wines. The Ribolla Gialla gracing our shelves this summer is true testament to this, and we are confident its exceptional character and flavour make it a strong contender to become the nation’s new prosecco.”

Not only will shoppers be trendsetting this summer with a glass of Aldi’s Ribolla Gialla in hand, they will also be saving up to 20% compared to others available on the market.

Aldi’s Specially Selected Sparkling Ribolla Gialla is available via Click & Collect and in store now, where shoppers can also explore the full Spring Summer wine range in stores and online https://www.aldi.co.uk/c/wines
