PRETTY BIG DILL – ALDI EXPECTS VEGAN FOOD SALES TO DOUBLE THIS VEGANUARY

  • Aldi has introduced it biggest ever vegan range to help make transitioning to a plant-based diet easier and more delicious than ever before

Last year, Veganuary sign-ups more than doubled from the previous year and polls suggested 72% wanted to stay vegan after the one-month commitment[1]. This January, Aldi is boosting its radishing vegan selection with its biggest ever vegan range. The supermarket expects to see sales of vegan food to double as a result.

With something for everyone, from long-term vegans to open minded meat-eaters, shoppers won’t need to sacrifice on taste or pennies to get a delicious dinner this Veganuary.  

Get everything you need for breakfast, lunch and dinner, from a pizza to prosecco:

Breakfast

In a hurry and need breakfast on the go? Or maybe you want to enjoy a weekend treat, Aldi’s Vegan Pain Au Chocolat (£1.49, 8 pack) are the perfect breakfast treat. Made with vegan puff pastry and vegan chocolate chips – simply delicious. Available in store from 3rd January.

For a healthy array of fruity goodness, why not try Aldi’s NEW Plant Menu Vegan Flavoured Yogurt (£0.99, 140g / £1.99, 350g). Available in two sizes and flavours, both are a deliciously thick and creamy coconut infused yogurt alternative, stirred with a tasty flavour of mango & passionfruit or strawberry compote (140g). Or go big and opt for the larger size, which comes in natural or strawberry compote flavour. Available from 28th December.

Lunch

Power through your lunchtime with Aldi’s NEW Power Bowls (£2.49 380g). Available in three tasty options; Katsu Cauliflower, Mediterranean and Tagine.

The Katsu Cauliflower Power Bowl is cooked with chargrilled cauliflower in a Katsu dressing, with a mix of vegetables and chargrilled chickpeas with a blend of  bulgar wheat, white quinoa and pearl barley – simply delicious. The Mediterranean Power Bowl is the perfect lunchtime option, which has Vegan Meatballs mixed with roasted vegetables, sunblushed tomatoes and spinach topped with a tomato dressing and sunflower seeds.  Last but definitely not least is Aldi’s Moroccon Tagine Power Bowl, which has sweet potato falafels served with kale and a quinoa mix of white quinoa, brown rice and green lentils, topped with a tagine dressing, cranberries and pumpkin seeds. All Available from 2nd January.

Next up as a lunchtime special is Aldi’s NEW Plant Menu Veggie Dippers (£1.49, 6 pieces). Perfect for a lunchtime snack, Aldi’s Veggie Dippers are tasty and plant based – a twist on the golden dipper, each is made with a blend of peppers, arborio rice, garlic and onions, coated in a crunchy and crisp golden crumb.  Available from 2nd January.

Available in three different flavours, Aldi’s Vegan Rolls (£0.99, 2 pack) are the perfect dish for lunch. Shoppers can choose from the No Pork Sausage Rolls, stuffed with seasoned mushroom mince, with nutmeg and sage, wrapped in a golden puff pastry; the mozzarella-style Sheese and Onion Roll;or the BBQ Jackfruit Roll, with shredded jackfruit in a Hickory flavoured barbecue sauce.

Dinner

For the perfect fakeaway vegan treat, you can now pick up Aldi’s Plant Menu Vegan Burgers (£1.49), available in No Chicken (227g) or No Beef (220g) varieties. You can build your own burger with Aldi’s Specially Selected Vegan Bioche Burger Buns (99p, 4 pack), Violife Epic Mature Vegan Alternative to Cheese (£1.99) and Aldi’s Plant Menu Vegan Mayonnaise (99p), available in Original (250g) or a spicy Peri Peri (265g).

This Veganuary, shoppers can opt for a succulent NEW Plant Menu No Chicken Kiev (£2.69). A deliciously vegan-friendly alternative to the classic dish with its garlic and parsley filling and crunchy breadcrumb coating, it’s sure to go down a treat.

A returning family favourite and sure to satisfy even the meatiest of pizza fans, shoppers need look no further than Aldi’s selection of Plant Menu Vegan Pizzas (£1.99), with flavours including BBQ Pulled Jackfruit, Spicy Cauliflower and even a meat-free Chicken Arrabiata. Available from 2nd January.

For a warming evening meal, why not try Aldis’ NEW Specially Selected No Beef Borguignon Pie (£1.69), made with shortcrust pastry, and packed with a tasty filling of Seitan, mushroom and onion, cooked in a red wine gravy and topped with a puff pastry lid. Available in stores from 2nd January 2020. Or try Aldi’s NEW Specially Selected Vegan Rainbow Pie (£1.69, 250g), made with a tomato and chilli shortcrust pastry, filed with rainbow vegetables in a spiced tomato and harissa sauce, toped with herbs and seeds – simply delicious! In stores from mid-January.

Fancying a non-traditional pie? Aldi’s got you covered with the Plant Menu Vegan Pie (£1.29, 200g), available in a warming Sri Lankan Style Butternut Squash & Chickpea Curry or flavoursome Chipotle Spiced Veg. Serve with Baby Potatoes (£0.59, 1kg) from this weeks Super 6.

Desserts

For sweet-toothed vegans who fancy dessert, Aldi has the answer: Plant Menu Melt in the Middle Pudding (£1.79, 180g), available in Belgian Chocolate or Caramel, both come with a sticky toffee melt in the middle – so good, you’d never tell it was vegan! Add Aldi’s NEW Gianni’s Vegan Ice cream (£2.49, 500ml), for a creamy flavoursome pudding you’ll remember. The new vegan ice cream comes in three different flavours and is the perfect sweet treat to enjoy during Veganuary (or longer!) including, Salted Caramel with Macadamia & Honeycomb, Chocolate Brownie and Crunchy Peanut Butter.  Available from 31st December.

Aldi has also launched NEW Vegan Chocsticks (£1.99, 90ml, 3 servings), which areavailable in three flavour sensations; Salted Caramel, Forest Fruits and New Chocolate. Both hit stores from December 31st, so you can still get a creamy dairy hit from day one of Veganuary.

Snacks

Feeling peckish and fancy a snack? Aldi’s Plant Menu Vegan Cheese Tortilla Crisps (£0.85, 160g), are the perfect snack to get you through the day. Crispy torilla crisps mixed with tangy cheese, creating a vegan dream.

For those with a sweet tooth, Aldi has launched Plant Menu Vegan Cookies (99p, 200g), available in two scrumptious varieties, including Chocolate Chip and Fruity Flapjack.

For the perfect  sweet treat snack, Aldi’s Moser Roth Vegan Chocolate Bar (£1.49), is available in Blonde and Milk, both are 100% Natural, and made with Organic Cocoa Butter.

Drinks

Finally, for those not taking part in Dry January this year, you can get your hands on a bottle of fizz! Aldi has launched a bottle of Vegan Prosecco (£6.99, 75cl), ensuring everyone can have a glass of bubbly!
