Supermarket Aldi has uncovered the true cost of laundry, revealing that over a quarter of all Brits are spending an astonishing £400 a year on managing their laundry load.

Offering a more affordable alternative to other retailers, shoppers can save over 55% on their favourite washing products by shopping at Aldi, compared to if they were to restock at Tesco.

With messy school uniforms, sweaty gym kits and stained tops from after-school clubs all needing to be kept clean and fresh, the expense of keeping clothes in tip-top condition hasn’t gone unnoticed. As the nation expresses its cleaning frustrations, only the task of having to shift stubborn stains beats the price of washing products as the biggest frustration when it comes to tackling the weekly load.

Brits that have been tackling PE kits, uniforms and play date clothes have revealed their top five frustrations with laundry:

1. Stubborn stains (47%)
2. Cost of regular washing powder, liquids and pods (35%)
3. Rewashing clothes that aren’t clean the first time (35%)
4. Cost of additional washing extras such as stain remover and fabric conditioner (34%)
5. Constantly feeling like the washing is never done (33%)
